I made my second trip in 3 months to Orlando this week. Here are the highlights:
1. I saw the restroom where a certain senator from Idaho solicited a police officer. It was amazing how many people on the plane knew exactly where it was.
2. My flight from Minneapolis to Cleveland was on a brand new 737, straight from the hangar to our gate. We had to pull the rubber bands off our seat belts and the plastic off the tray tables. This was very cool, until about 20 minutes into the flight when the overwhelming smell of the leather seats was starting to make people sick. Think new car smell times 150, positively nauseating.
3. I had dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, which was lost on me because I don't eat steak.
4. I was 30 miles from the hottest place in the nation and the coldest place in the nation in an 8 hour stretch.
5. I stayed at the Holiday Inn and my room had bunk beds! I slept on the bottom bunk every night.
6. I got to wear flip flops the whole time and got sunburned in less than 20 minutes.
7. Flying first class is way different than coach. No one ever made me turn off my Ipod or buckle my seatbelt. They really do let you do whatever you want. I like it.
My final thought is that Orlando is no place to go when you have a family that you miss terribly back home. I was counting the minutes back to Idaho.
