Two Funny Things, at least to me

Mason has learned the art of sharing. He loves the whole give you something, take it back dance. Yeah, so, yesterday I called Jake from work around 4 to make plans for dinner. He answers the phone in a whisper. I ask if the baby is sleeping. He says "No, I am hiding from the baby, he wants to share everything with me".

The other funny thing happened today at work. One of my insured's told me "Either you are new at this or you just really suck at your job". I stifled a laugh and said "Yeah, it's probably a little of both".

Rub a Dub Dub

Mason has always enjoyed his baths, but about 6 weeks ago he started to get crazy. He would stand up, fall down, roll over into the water, etc. I came up with the brilliant idea that we could take a bath together in our gigantic tub, and now it is one of my favorite parts of the day. Mason is super happy and for the most part will sit on my lap the entire time, which is something that is completely out of the question if we are not in water. When he starts to get crazy and wants to put his face in the water or drink the shampoo, his dad comes and wisks him away. This is great for two reasons...I get to enjoy the rest of the bath and I don't have to wrestle him to the ground to get his pajamas on. It's a win win for everybody! Well, except for Jake.

More Travel Tales

I swear this is turning into a travel blog, but my travels have been different and unique and since this is a journal of sorts, I must record them. This week I took my first flight on the company jet, which is certainly a preferred method of travel. It's really quite efficient and the best part is stepping off the plane and directly into the rental car. I decided it might be fun to see what our physical damage adjusters do all day so I tagged along with Bill to Oakland and Reno to see all the wrecked tractors and trailers I could handle. My only real responsibility was to read the tread on every tire and record it. I bet I could accurately guess tire treads on semis now, a very useful skill to have.
It was so beautiful to fly over the San Francisco bay area and quite warm in Oakland. Flying from Oakland to Reno over the Sierra Nevadas was possibly the most turbulant flight I have ever been on. I was medicated, as I always am, but I spent the entire flight with my head between my legs puking into a garbage can. Such an interesting situation to be in with a co-worker I don't really know. I did feel better when one of the pilots also succumbed to the turbulance though. Misery really does enjoy company. Luckily I was able to pull it together in time to eat at the buffet at the Nugget in Reno.
My next tag along trip is with the safety inspectors, can hardly wait!
Bill and I prior to my puke fest
This one looks A-OK Bill! (I was so helpful)
I took my tread reading job very seriously.

In Love with the Boy

Being away from Mason last weekend has made me want to spend every waking second with him this week and weekend. I missed him so much and he brings me crazy amounts of joy. He had his 9 month checkup this week and he is in the 33rd percentile for weight at 20 pounds and 88th for height at 29.25 inches. I attribute that to his crazy daily jumping, he pants like a puppy and more often than not falls asleep in the middle of it. He's super curious and says "doot" when he's excited or interested in something. It's darling. Love that guy.

Kickin' it in O'lando

I made my second trip in 3 months to Orlando this week. Here are the highlights:

1. I saw the restroom where a certain senator from Idaho solicited a police officer. It was amazing how many people on the plane knew exactly where it was.

2. My flight from Minneapolis to Cleveland was on a brand new 737, straight from the hangar to our gate. We had to pull the rubber bands off our seat belts and the plastic off the tray tables. This was very cool, until about 20 minutes into the flight when the overwhelming smell of the leather seats was starting to make people sick. Think new car smell times 150, positively nauseating.

3. I had dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, which was lost on me because I don't eat steak.

4. I was 30 miles from the hottest place in the nation and the coldest place in the nation in an 8 hour stretch.

5. I stayed at the Holiday Inn and my room had bunk beds! I slept on the bottom bunk every night.

6. I got to wear flip flops the whole time and got sunburned in less than 20 minutes.

7. Flying first class is way different than coach. No one ever made me turn off my Ipod or buckle my seatbelt. They really do let you do whatever you want. I like it.

My final thought is that Orlando is no place to go when you have a family that you miss terribly back home. I was counting the minutes back to Idaho.

For Steph

Mason can be so precious. He won’t stop even when he is exhausted. Daddy didn't raise a quitter! (Sure, I take credit, whatever) By the end I just could not record any more, I could not take one more second of cuteness; I had to go pick him up.
